2024 XIAODUSHE VILLAGE PARK

Xiaodushe, a dense migrant village on China Beijing's edge shaped by topdown zoning, minimal infrastructure and rapid industrialization, this park reimagines a before passive greenery as social infrastructure for everyday dignity, care, and connection.
Once enclosed and fragmented, the project transforms the site from park to square.
We removed the rigid boundaries and introduced a porous frame-work: light pergola, low walls, and terraced seating built from galvanizedsteel and recycled brick-materials common in the village's self-builtvernacular making the park feel both local and new.
This project is not defined by iconic form, but by its ability to support informal, unplanned use. Children run. Parents talk. Vendors wait. Through minimal means, the park enables everyday life to unfold- gently, communally, and with care.
